Forex copy trading for MT4 and MT5

Copy currency-pair trades from another MetaTrader account, a master account in our catalog or a Telegram signal channel into your own MT4 or MT5 accounts. The copier runs in our cloud around the clock, sizes every trade for your balance and follows every close, partial close and stop change. Below is what actually matters when the trades are EURUSD, GBPJPY and friends.

How copying a currency pair works

When the source opens a position, our connector sees it within milliseconds. The copier then finds the matching symbol on your broker, calculates your lot size, checks your filters (direction, time window, news pause, maximum open trades) and sends a market order to your account. From that moment the two positions are linked: if the source closes half, moves its stop or closes the rest, the same happens on your account.

Pending orders work the same way. A buy limit or sell stop on the source is placed on your account before it fills, and modified or cancelled along with it. You can turn pending-order copying off per copier if you only want filled positions.

Your order fills at your broker's price, not the source's. The difference is the spread on your account plus whatever the market moved during the round trip. Every copied trade has its latency recorded in History, so you can see the gap rather than guess it.

Pips, contract sizes and what one lot is worth

A standard lot is 100,000 units of the base currency, so one pip on a USD-quoted pair is worth $10 per lot. On pairs quoted in another currency the pip is worth 10 units of that currency, which then converts to your account currency. That is why a 20-pip stop costs a different dollar amount on EURUSD, USDJPY and EURGBP.

Spreads are indicative for normal hours and differ by broker and account type. Raw-spread accounts quote lower spreads plus a commission.
PairPipPip value per 1.00 lotTypical spread, standard account
EURUSD0.0001$100.8–1.5 pips
GBPUSD0.0001$101.0–2.0 pips
USDJPY0.01¥1,000 (about $6.70 at 150.00)0.9–1.6 pips
USDCAD0.0001CA$10 (about $7.30)1.2–2.2 pips
EURGBP0.0001£10 (about $12.70)1.0–2.0 pips
GBPJPY0.01¥1,000 (about $6.70)2.0–4.0 pips

Stops and targets are copied as prices, not as pip distances, so the JPY-pair pip size never needs converting. If you want the stop distance to be identical despite a different entry price, turn on spread adjustment, which shifts SL and TP by the entry difference. To put money on a pip, use the pip value calculator.

Sessions, rollover and spread spikes

Liquidity is not flat through the day, and copied trades pay whatever spread your broker shows at the moment of entry.

In northern summer most of these windows move one hour earlier.
Window (UTC, northern winter)What happens
22:00–00:00Daily rollover. Spreads often widen to several pips for 15–60 minutes; swaps are booked.
00:00–07:00Asian session. JPY and AUD pairs are active, EUR and GBP pairs trade in narrow ranges.
08:00–12:00London open. The most liquid part of the day for EUR and GBP pairs.
13:00–17:00London–New York overlap. Tightest spreads, largest moves, most US data releases.

If your source scalps through rollover, a time filter that skips new entries around 21:45–22:30 UTC can save more than any broker switch. The news filter pauses new entries around high-impact releases such as NFP, CPI and central-bank decisions, while still managing trades that are already open.

Broker suffixes on currency pairs

Brokers decorate pair names with account-type suffixes: EURUSD.m, EURUSDm, EURUSD+, EURUSD.pro, EURUSD.ecn. The copier first looks for an exact name, then strips known suffixes and matches the underlying pair, preferring the same base name over variants like EURUSDmicro.

Map a pair by hand only when your broker lists the same pair twice on one account (for example EURUSD and EURUSD.raw) and you want a specific one. A pair that cannot be matched is never guessed: the copy is skipped and History tells you which symbol needs a mapping. More in symbol mapping and broker suffixes.

Sizing forex trades for a different balance

The default mode, risk by balance, scales the source lot by the ratio of balances: a $50,000 source opening 1.00 lot becomes 0.20 on a $10,000 account and 0.05 on $2,500. Risk by equity does the same with equity. Lot multiplier and fixed lot ignore balances. Risk percent sizes from the stop distance, which suits signal channels that never mention lots.

Balance ratios compare raw numbers without currency conversion. If the source is in USD and your account is in EUR or GBP, or one of the accounts is a cent account, use a lot multiplier or fixed lot instead. The lot sizing modes guide walks through each mode with numbers, and the lot size calculator does the risk-percent maths for any pair.

Risk notes specific to forex

  • Correlation. Long EURUSD, long GBPUSD and short USDCHF are three trades but roughly one bet against the dollar. A source that stacks correlated pairs can lose on all of them at once; maximum open trades caps the stack.
  • Leverage. High leverage lets a small account open large positions, which also means a small move can wipe out a large share of it. Sizing, not leverage, decides your risk.
  • Weekend gaps. Positions held over the weekend can open on Monday beyond their stop. A stop limits loss in normal conditions, not in a gap.
  • FIFO accounts. Accounts at US brokers must close positions in first-in, first-out order and cannot hold opposite positions on one pair. A hedging source copied into a FIFO account will see rejections.
  • Drawdown protection. An EquityShield rule on your account can alert you, pause copiers or close everything when equity crosses a line you choose. See drawdown protection.

Forex copy trading: questions

Can I copy forex trades between different brokers?

Yes. The source and the follower can be at different brokers and on different platforms (MT4 → MT5, MT5 → MT4). Pair names are matched automatically, including suffixes such as .m or +, and each follower is sized for its own balance.

Will my fills be exactly the same as the source?

Close, but not identical. Your order fills at your broker's bid/ask, which includes your spread and any movement during the round trip. The latency of every copied trade is saved in History so you can measure the difference over time.

Do I need to handle JPY pairs differently?

No. Stops and targets are copied as prices and lots are sized from your broker's symbol specification, so the 0.01 pip on JPY pairs is handled for you. Only your own mental arithmetic needs to remember that a JPY pip is worth less than a dollar pip.

Can I copy only some currency pairs?

Yes. Add the pairs you never want copied to the copier's disabled symbols, and combine that with direction, time and news filters. Trades on disabled pairs are skipped and logged with the reason.

Does copying work with cent accounts?

Cent accounts report their balance in cents, so a balance-ratio mode would see 100 times the money. Use a lot multiplier or fixed lot for cent accounts and test with the Send test trade button before going live.
